I received a gift card a while ago and my first visit was a massage that was mediocre, not great pressure or relaxing at all. I like how her masssage my neck and shoulders. I told her to focus on my neck, shoulders and lower back. I got a 60-min full body massage with foot sugar scrub. I feel warm in Serendipity Spa and Whitney kept asking me if the pressure or everything is all right. I used to go to some spa places but they are usually too cold. All the atmosphere is good and I also like their temperature there. After the form is completed, my massage therapist, Whitney, came to take me to the massage room. When I went in, they asked me to fill out a form and sign the waiver because it's my first time here. I made the appointment 2 weeks in advance (for a weekday afternoon). It was kinda hard to get appointment because they are usually fully booked for days. I got the Groupon for a long time but haven't tried it. I was very excited to see this place on Groupon. I moved to this neighborhood and was looking for a good spa/massage place. I wouldn't mind coming back with another deal, but their prices seem a bit high for a no frills, no thrills massage - especially if I can get the same thing for half the price in Brooklyn, Chinatown, or East Village. So this is just an FYI for you guys who have the same mindset as us! Maybe both my BF had an incorrect definition of what this really meant, because we thought it was the lower-mid back. Tip - when you tell them lower back, it really means right above the butt. My boyfriend had Roneisha, who didn't seem as warm, personality-wise, but he said she was able to get the job done, so I guess that's all that matters. They had a 'zen room', which was the waiting room, where they had some pastries and teas while we filled out some legal forms. The experience wasn't bad but there weren't really any extras to go that extra mile. Except it wasn't a couple's massage where we were in the same room - we were in adjacent rooms, where the doors just opened into each other. It was pretty much exactly what I was expecting. However, I was able to get a really great Groupon deal for a couple's massage, which i couldn't pass up - so I decided to take the chance. I was a little iffy about Serenity Day Spa since it only had three stars on Yelp.
